  • We provide advice to clients in this changing environment on labour and employment law matters, helping our clients to stay abreast of changes.
  • We draft disciplinary codes, grievance procedures, collective agreements and retrenchment agreements.
  • We represent our clients at arbitrations, mediations, the Labour Courts, and other administrative hearings.
  • We train clients in handling grievance and disciplinary hearings and crisis situations such as strikes and lock- outs.
  • We train clients in all aspects of employment legislation, such as the LRA, Employment Equity Act, BCEA, etc.
  • We train clients on how to conduct arbitrations.
  • We provide written opinions and are available telephonically to give clients advice when they need it.
  • We provide advice to clients during restructuring and rationalization processes and transfers of business.
  • We preside over disciplinary and grievance hearings and also act as initiators/prosecutors at some hearings.

Our services include legal advice, drawing pleadings and representing clients in the High and Magistrates Courts.

(v) CONSTITUTIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE LAW

South Africa 's new constitution, impacts on all sectors -government, business and private spheres. The establishment of the Constitutional Court has opened up opportunities for testing constitutional issues and the exercise of power by various organs of state. We are equipped to advise our clients on all aspects of constitutional law that affect their business or private affairs.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

The firm encourages its professional and support staff members to improve their skills. Professional staff members attend advocacy trial courses, labour law seminars and conferences to sharpen their knowledge and skills. The firm has since 1999, participated in the Integrated Bar Project programme, which places final black law students in law firms to give them exposure to real legal practice before they embark on their articles. We also employ at least two candidate attorneys per year.
